HCD provides a range of valuable support services to leading clients and contractors in the important transport sector. These include Building Control, Project Management, Quantity Surveying and Fire Safety Engineering services on schemes in the airport and rail transportation markets.
We have broad experience in the rail sector, having worked with some of the leading operators across the country, including National Express, Northern Rail and Mersey Rail. We provide Project Management and Quantity Surveyor support to major rail projects, such as the £6m upgrade of the Etches Park rail depot in Derby. Under a design & build agreement HCD worked with the main contractor to establish the required scope within the confines of the budget, then administer the project from feasibility to completion.
“HCD has been instrumental in delivering this successful depot reconfiguration project acting both as project managers and QS. Not only did HCD manage the execution of the works but it was also a key member of the steering group pulling all strands of the project together.”
David Fry, Rail Property Director, National Express
From experience we are familiar with the constraints of working in an airport environment, particularly the need for tight security and the need to maintain separation between airside and landside areas.
Recently we provided Building Control services on Bournemouth Airport’s £45m redevelopment programme. Meanwhile, at Bristol Airport, HCD Group company, Fusion Fire Engineering is updating and rationalising the overall fire strategy as part of a redevelopment that will see passenger capacity almost double by 2019/20. It is adopting a unique approach by applying the risk-based principles of BS9999 to the airport environment to save costs and increase design flexibility.
