Designing for fire safety in our buildings has gone through a period of significant transformation. Major changes to legislation have led to the emergence of Fire Safety Engineering as an innovative design tool which promises greater freedom for architectural creativity and cost effective designs.

In response to these developments, the HCD Group is launching its new company, Fusion Fire Engineering, to spearhead the promotion of all aspects of fire safety design across the construction sector.
In its basic form, Fire Safety Engineering applies engineering principles to identify fire risks, establish safety levels and design a compliant solution. Embracing these principles, the Building Regulations approval process has moved away from providing only rigid, prescriptive solutions to offer flexibility of design as well as cost benefits through ongoing Value Engineering.
