Although the issue of our Final Certificate will confirm that the project complies with the Building Regulations, it is an additional legal requirement to conduct a Fire Risk Assessment of the premises upon occupation. This additional statutory obligation is necessary to satisfy the express requirements / prohibitions of ‘The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005’ and will also meet the requirements of ‘The Management of the Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999’.
The Fire Risk Assessment should ensure that the end-user of the building interacts with the building in the manner that was originally assumed by the design team. It is also the responsibility of the owner/occupier of the premises to ensure that they appoint a ‘competent person’ to carry out this fire risk assessment. As a company we endeavour to provide our Clients with continuing support and quality advice on building / fire safety legislation, stretching beyond completion of the physical building work itself. Our objective is to provide engineered and fire safety solutions to our Client throughout the life cycle of the building.
The major benefit of commissioning the wider resources of the HCD Group (Fusion Fire Engineering) to assist you with this statutory obligation is the assurance that our competent and experienced Fire Safety surveyors will already be familiar with both the original design philosophy and the complex package of interactive fire safety facilities provided during construction. This will ensure that continuity of interpretation is maintained when considering the adequacy of fire safety provisions within the occupied premises, which is both desirable and essential to secure compliance with this retrospective legislation.
