The Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme will see nearly every state secondary school in England rebuilt or renewed over a ten to 15-year period, beginning in 2005-06. This will involve around 3,500 schools and it is forecast that £9.3 billion will be spent on the BSF programme in 2008-11.

HCD has worked on some of the most acclaimed and cutting-edge school building designs seen in recent years, contributing valuable expertise to the design teams and engaging in detailed consultation with clients and stakeholders. The result has been the appointment of HCD providing Approved Inspector Building Control, CDM Co-ordinator and Fire Safety Engineering services on six BSF programmes to-date.
